courtyard garden
This 14th century cottage situated in the historic village of Haddenham had a traditional front garden laid to lawn. The new design gave the garden more character and interest.
Client Brief
To design a courtyard garden that would be in keeping with the period of the cottage, to add more visual interest and create a space that would be used as well as looked at. The lawn was replaced with natural stone paths leading to a central circle. This not only gave the courtyard garden its structure but provided a practical route between the front door and the parking. The third path leads you the sanctuary of a 'Sleeper Bench' nestled in the corner of the garden. Box edged flower beds spill over with traditional planting to soften the stonework.
